MACHINE TATTOOS
When you think of a tattoo you probably think of a “machine tattoo”.
Machine refers to the device used to create the tattoo.
You may know of the term tattoo “gun” which is most likely the words you’re familiar with, but generally in the tattoo industry professionals refer to it as a “tattoo machine” not a tattoo gun.
There are many different styles of tattoo machines but the 2 most common kinds are Rotary and Coil machines.
If you’ve ever been to a tattoo appointment and felt as though the tattoo machine was extra loud or “buzzy” chances are your artist was using a coil style machine
If you felt as though the artists machine was softer and quieter maybe even smaller in size chances are they were using a rotary style machine!
Regardless of what machine your artist uses there should be no difference in pain, quality or healing. That all depends on your artists ability to perform their craft, not what kind of equipment they use. An artists choice typically depends on what they were trained with, what suits their style, and what they feel more comfortable using!
Here at pink ink our machine tattoos are done exclusively with rotary pen style machines which are small in size, very quiet and allows us to do the more dainty and softer tattoos we specialize in!
